Kyla Brooks

CWC Therapist

Spero Family Services

My name is Kyla Brooks, and I am a Mental Health therapist at Spero. Helping people feel less alone has always been something that I am very passionate about. I obtained my BSW and MSW at Southern Illinois University. I have a background in an array of different Social Work and Mental Health focused experiences. My first required internship was held at Lutheran Social Services, where I gained some experience with different family dynamics and struggles. My second internship was held at Shawnee Alliance, where I gained some experience in geriatrics and first-hand involvement with some struggles they have to endure, as I did home visits and implemented health assessments. I became a part of Spero’s team in 2019, where I started as a family facilitator and gained some great experience with helping families gain new techniques and strategies to help tackle family struggles as a whole. I have been employed by Spero for 3 years, and am currently working on LCSW hours toward becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My strengths in therapy include CBT-focused therapies, Brainspotting, an array of play therapy strategies, depression, and anxiety-focused coping techniques, and family therapy.
